Dr. Seema Sharma

Dr Seema Sharma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at KSKV Kachchh University in India. With a Masters degree and Doctorate in Environmental Science and also the qualifying degree (UGC-NET) for professorship in India, Seema has an undying passion for the sustainable solutions pertaining to environment. With the two most prestigious fellowships of the country, she pursued her doctoral (Women Scientist fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India) and post doctoral work (National Post doctoral Fellowship from Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India). She is driven to research the use of Traditional Ecological Knowledge in the field of sustainable agriculture in order to provide scientific evidence for integrating these systems into governmental policies. Dr Seema has several novel NCBI accessions of microorganisms isolated from varied environments, to her credit that have enormous potential in stressed environments. Dr. Sharma’s peer reviewed publications in this field within a short span of few years demonstrate her commitment to quality research on this topic. Several publications are in the pipeline, which will help drive the policy matters in a developing country as India where ‘Post Green Revolution’ agricultural policies have ushered in an era of irreparable damage to the ecosystem. Dr Seema’s current research interest include interface study of Geological hotspots and the microbiological flora associated, Phosphate Solubilising Microorganisms as Biofertilisers, sustainable solutions and clean energy and nutrient dynamics in varied soil systems and exploring ways and means to take science from books and laboratories to the end users and actual beneficiaries for effective delivery of science under the ‘Mission Eco Next’ initiative of NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
